How much are you really worth?

Think about it. What do you have to do to get to work so that you can earn your $50 an hour job?

Example: Suppose that your job pays you $50 an hour and you “work” at your job full-time (8 hours per day). Suppose commute to your workplace is 45 minutes each way, and you also take 30 minutes in the morning to get ready for work. That day essentially becomes 10 hours. Your hourly rate is now $40. For a physician, you might end up spending an extra hour finishing notes or dictations.

Combine that with taxes, wear and tear on your car, your health, and traffic, your “worth” is likely less than what is stated on your paycheck. Realize that I am not preaching Mustachianism or ERE—there are many ways to Rome but sometimes the roads are very similar.
